Scoggins Library Research Tips

Here you will find tips on the research process and useful resources to help you with your research. You can also access the district databases by clicking here!

You need to consider the following Six Step Research Process when conducting your research:

Step 1 - Choose
What do I want to learn?
Know your task. Generate possibilities. Choose a topic.

Step 2 - Plan
How do I get started?
List what you know. Decide what questions will guide your learning. Plan your process.

Step 3 - Search
Where do I find information?
Choose search terms. Select helpful sources. Search for information from multiple sources.

Step 4 - Use
What do I do with the information I found?
Refocus your research questions. Decide what information to keep. Record the information you need, citing your sources.

Step 5 - Create
How do I present the information?
Know your audience and purpose. Sequence your information. Create a product using correct documentation.

Step 6 - Reflect
What can improve?
Get input on your product. Revise and edit. Reflect on how you could improve the process.
