Find out what's happening in the library! Read It Forward - This year our reading promotion program is Read It Forward. Read It Forward started October 6th. You can access the survey here once you've read the book! Make sure you come by the library once you've read it to be entered to win some cool prizes like giftcards, pizza lunches, and much more! Our next activity for students who have read the book will be a Teacher Talent Show on Tuesday, March 2nd from 4-6pm. Hope to see you there! Student Book Club- Students meet monthly to discuss their favorite books. Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 6th from 8:10-8:30am for the Anime Club or during A, B, and C lunch for the regular Seahawk Book Club. A lunch will be discussing the book The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. B lunch will be discussing the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. C lunch will be discussing the book Zach's Lie by Roland Smith. Library Homepage – Find information to help with research and homework in every class. Library Podcasts – Updated weekly on the library homepage to promote new books and other library events. The podcasts can be accessed from the library’s homepage. Book Club Blog – Students and teachers can discuss literature they have read. The blog can be accessed from the librarian’s homepage. Seahawk Reading Circle – Throughout the year readings of the books by the visiting authors will take place in the morning in the library. Author Visits - Author Jennifer Ziegler visited our 8th grade students October 1st. She was incredibly impressed by their behavior and their enthusiasm. She talked to the students about her books as well as tips and tricks for writing. Book Fairs - The Fall Book Fair was held September 21st-September 26th and was a huge success. Stay tuned to learn more about our Spring Book Fair which will take place March 15th-19th. Frisco Reads - Frisco Reads was held Tuesday, September 29th from 4:30-6:30pm at Liberty High School. The amount of support from Scoggins parents and students was incredible. Out of 688 attendees, 68 were from Scoggins, so we represented about 10% of the total attendees! Thank you for your support of reading! Teen Read Week - Teen Read Week was October 18th-24th. This year's theme was Read Beyond Reality. Teen Night was a HUGE success. We look forward to celebrating reading again in the Spring with Teen Tech Week! Lunches with the Librarian-Students from all grades will be invited to eat lunch with the librarian throughout the year to give their input and suggestions for library programs.
