What is HIP?
HIP stands for Horizon Information Portal. It is an electronic cataloguing system, meaning it's how we look up books and materials in the library. You can access HIP from school or home.

If you haven't used HIP before, here are some helpful tips for doing a basic search:
  1. Select what category you want to search using the dropdown menu. The categories are keyword, title browse, author, subject, and series.
  2. Type in your keyword. Remember, if you are looking up a person or an author you want the last name first!
  3. Click on any of the titles you want more information about.
  4. Once you've found the one you want, take note of the call number. This will tell you where to find it in the library.

If you want to be able to fill in more than one keyword, you can do an advanced search. Click on the advanced link, then you can type in any combination of search words.

If you want to see your library account, click on the My account tab, enter your student id, and then you can see which books you currently have checked out and when they are due.

Always remember, if you need help using HIP, ask the librarian!
